Accessibility Statement
Abled is built for the disability community, so accessibility is not a feature here — it is the product. We design to WCAG 2.2 level AA across the app and treat accessibility problems as high-priority bugs.
What we've built in
- Full keyboard operability for browsing, matching, and messaging — including swipe actions via arrow keys
- Respect for your system's reduced motion setting across every animation
- Screen-reader labels on controls, live announcements for incoming messages and typing status
- In-app preferences for text size, high contrast, and reduced motion (Settings → Accessibility)
- Voice messages as a first-class alternative to typing
- Alt text on profile photos and captions support
- Safe-area and large-touch-target layouts for switch and tremor users
Known limitations we're working on
- Voice messages don't yet have automatic transcripts
- Video calls don't yet support live captions
- Some community-post media may lack descriptions if the author didn't add one
Found a barrier?
Tell us and we'll fix it — accessibility reports jump our queue. Use the in-app report tool (Settings → Help) or email access@abled.social. Please include what you were trying to do and the assistive tech you use.
